To escape the freezing dread of January, Peter and I took a trip to Costa Rica to volunteer at a sloth sanctuary. “I couldn’t imagine a cuter vacation,” he said.

“I heard about this great new Somali restaurant on Forest Ave,” said Peter. “Let’s go tomorrow night after work.”

Peter and I kicked off our boots and stumbled into the kitchen, soaked through from the surprise downpour, dripping all over the tiles and laughing like maniacs. I slipped on the slick floor and landed on my back, momentarily surprised, but still in the middle of hysterical laughter. Once Peter realized I was alright he said, barely able to keep a straight face, “Dear, can I get you anything? A glass of water? Some Crisco? A moist towellete? Or would you prefer a Shamwow?”
